Where There’s Fun for Everyone.
The upper falls area near the Steel District is changing. With many park improvements underway, Jacobson Plaza is bringing some major fun to The Falls, including the biggest playground in the region, a refrigerated ice-skating ribbon, a warming house and café, Pawsible Dog Park, T. Denny Sanford Splash Pad, and improved connections to downtown and the recreation trail. These projects should all be completed within the next year, so follow us on social media to stay updated on the progress and get ready for fun!
The Ribbon, Warming House, & The Lodge
Lace up your skates and experience the joy of gliding around the 14,000-square-foot skate ribbon opening in February 2025. This impressive ribbon (with refrigerated ice in the winter) will stretch nearly two football fields long and is designed for endless fun and excitement. In colder months, warm up in our cozy warming house and treat yourself to some delicious food or a hot beverage at The Lodge. Take a break by the fire pits, enjoy the music and ambient lighting, and make it a day to remember. With attendance expected to surpass the city’s other rinks combined, this is an experience you won’t want to miss.
Experience a Playground of Possibilities
The region's largest playground will be opening right here at Jacobson Plaza next year. Spanning over 26,000 square feet, this playground is more than just large--it's also designed to be accessible for everyone to enjoy. The playground will include specialized equipment like wheelchair-accessible swings, sensory-rich play structures, and widened ramp access to equipment. It will truly be a playground of possibilities—a vibrant space to connect, make new friends, and build community.
Pawsible Dog Park
Opening soon! Let your four-legged friend burn off some energy while you “paws” and relax in this fully fenced, off-leash haven. The Pawsible Dog Park, made possible by a donation from the Lloyd family, offers a much-needed downtown play space for our canine friends. It features an artificial turf, a sanitizing system, seating, shade, a drinking fountain, and separate spaces for small and large dogs. Let your pup run, fetch, and make new friends in this space made just for them.
T. Denny Sanford Splash Pad
What are your plans for summer? How about joining us for some splashing good fun at Sioux Falls’ newest and largest splash pad? The T. Denny Sanford Splash Pad will be opening in the summer of 2025 and will be our latest attraction at Jacobson Plaza, packed with a variety of water features for all ages. It will be located just south of the skate ribbon and will be fun for everyone. Let the countdown to summer begin!
